OUR COMMITMENT

Since its inception, Welysis has guided its management practices by core values of integrity, honesty, and loyalty. We are committed to complying with all applicable legal provisions and assume responsibility toward people and the environment.

We, therefore, work to ensure that our products contribute to the improvement of the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) and the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations. In addition, we are committed to ensuring that all members of our Network are involved in the environmental improvement of the planet.

Our most significant contribution is in the chapters:

03.

Health and
wellbeing

Welysis plants produce enough sodium hypochlorite to provide millions of people with sustained access to drinking water.

Ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being at all ages is essential for sustainable development. In many countries, this involves reducing mortality and endemic diseases, including those transmitted through the consumption of contaminated water (target 3.3). To achieve this goal, countries need to work, among other things, on regular and sufficient supplies of safe drinking water for all people, especially in rural areas with little access to resources.

06.

Clean water and
sanitation

As much as 3 000 Million m3  of  water can be treated for human consumption every year with  the products of our plants.

According to the WHO, Safe and easily accessible water is important for public health, whether it is used for drinking, domestic use, food production, or recreation. Improved water supply, sanitation, and water resources management can boost countries’ economic growth and make a major contribution to poverty reduction. Therefore, target 6.1 calls for universal and equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water.

07.

Ensure access to affordable, secure, sustainable, and modern energy

Renewable energy can reach more than 90% of  the total consumed energy. Using windmills, solar energy and hydrogen fuel cells.

This goal focuses especially on improvements in access to clean and safe cooking fuels and technologies for 3 billion people, to expand the use of renewable energy beyond the electricity sector, and to increase electrification in sub-Saharan Africa.

08.

Promoting inclusive and sustainable economic growth, employment and decent work for all

Welysis plants are autonomously managed by local workers, estimulating  the country’s employment and ensuring  the long-term view of the project.

Inclusive and sustained economic growth can drive progress, create decent jobs for all and improve living standards.

09.

Build resilient infrastructure, promote sustainable industrialisation and foster innovation

Welysis keeps a  sustained investment in  R+D+i to improve the efficiency of its  processes. In addition, it puts integrated  management systems into practice and has several ISO certifications.

At least developed countries need to accelerate the development of their manufacturing sectors if they are to achieve the 2030 target and increase investment in scientific research and innovation.

11.

Sustainable cities and communities

The projects of the company are originally  designed with the aim of minimizing CO2  emissions, through producing locally instead of importing.

Cities and metropolitan areas are hubs of economic growth, contributing around 60% of global GDP. However, they also account for around 70% of global carbon emissions and more than 60% of resource use.

12.

Responsible production and
consumption

Technologies and processes present in  Welysis plants are energetically efficient, focused on human safety and environmental neutral on efluents and emissions.  Moreover, innovations aiming to reduce  Welysis’ carbon footprint are to be  promptly materialized.

The economic and social progress achieved over the last century has been accompanied by environmental degradation that is endangering the very systems on which our future development (and indeed, our survival) depends. With a local production industry, the use of resources for production is minimized, thus reducing the impact on the environment. In addition, our plants are equipped with energy-efficient and environmentally friendly technologies.

17.

Partnerships to achieve
goals

Welysis partners with local and international associations like AfWasa to boost the implementation of these technologies in African conutries.

For a development agenda to be successfully delivered, inclusive partnerships (at global, regional, national, and local levels) need to be built on principles and values, as well as on a shared vision and goals that focus on people and the planet first. Welysis builds win-win relationships with public and private entities, businesses, and industries, to work together to create and consolidate a strong social and economic fabric.
