PLANTS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF SODIUM HYDROXIDE (caustic soda) BY ELECTROLYSIS
One of the chemical compounds obtained from our electrolysis plants is caustic soda as a 32% solution. After the evaporation of the water, we are able to offer 50% caustic soda.
Also known as sodium hydroxide, it is a very corrosive compound and due to its properties, it is widely used as a chemical base or raw material for different manufacturing processes. Its chemical formula is NaOH.
It has the following applications:
- Manufacture of detergents, disinfectants, soaps and cleaning products. Well known for its use in unclogging drains and pipes.
- Manufacture of various drugs in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Food processing, preserving and curing in the food industry.
- Refining of wood for furniture and paper production and removal of ink from sheets in paper recycling.
- Removal of heavy metals from water and pH regulation in the water treatment industry.
- In textile processing to provide consistency and shine to garments in the textile industry.
- In laboratory reagents for pH adjustments.
- Other industrial uses such as manufacture of rayon, lycra, explosives, epoxy resins, paints, glass, ceramics, metal processing, etc.
FAQ ABOUT OUR CAUSTIC SODA PRODUCTION PLANTS
All the information in detail
What is our specialisation in caustic soda production?
At Welysis, our specialisation focuses on the construction of electrolysis plants for the production of caustic soda, also known scientifically as sodium hydroxide or sodium hydroxide. We focus on designing and developing facilities that allow us to obtain caustic soda in concentrated solutions, optimising the processes to achieve maximum efficiency and operational safety.
The concentration we obtain is 32% by default. However, it is possible to install a soda concentrator with a supplement to obtain a concentration of 50%.
How do we guarantee quality and safety in the production of sodium hydroxide?
Quality and safety are paramount in our caustic soda production plants. We implement advanced electrolysis technologies and rigorous quality controls to ensure that production meets the highest standards. In addition, our facilities are designed to minimise the risks associated with handling highly corrosive substances, ensuring a safe environment for operators.
What are the industrial applications of the caustic soda produced in our facilities?
Caustic soda is an essential compound in many industries. Some of its most important applications include:
- Pulp and paper manufacturing, where it is used for bleaching and pulp processing.
- The chemical industry, as a reagent in the production of various compounds.
- Water treatment, for acid neutralisation and pH adjustment.
- The textile industry, in the mercerisation process to improve the quality of fabrics.
- The production of detergents and soaps, thanks to its properties as a cleaning and degreasing agent.
What technological innovations do we incorporate in the construction of our plants?
Welysis’ commitment to our customers goes beyond the construction of the plant. We offer a complete package of post-construction services including technical training for personnel, preventive and corrective maintenance, and ongoing process improvement advice. Our goal is to ensure that caustic soda plants not only meet initial expectations but continue to operate efficiently and safely over time.
All Welysis facilities are automatically integrated into WIN (Welysis International Network), a collaborative environment where evidence-based experience, wisdom and best practices are exchanged. WIN merges an inter-facility communication mechanism with data analysis through Big Data, with the aim of perfecting procedures that have a direct impact on the improvement of the facilities and the well-being of the communities in which they operate.
THE FIVE PILLARS OF WIN (WELYSIS INTERNATIONAL NETWORK)
- Innovation Hub: Optimisation of the production process from design to final quality and market trends, ensuring market leadership.
- Continuous Training: Access to real training and continuous training in techniques and improvements through
- Quality System: Real-time monitoring of production and processes to guarantee total quality, with annual audits and international certifications.
